Uprising’s flagship facility in Christchurch was New Zealand’s first large-scale, dedicated commercial bouldering venue.
The design and build of this bouldering wall was a chance for us to showcase our ability to create a unique, inspiring and functional climbing venue. Bespoke wooden details, curved walls, innovative spatial design, virtual-reality rendered climbing structures and mechanically adjustable training walls showed what was possible possible with a bit of Kiwi ingenuity!
The success of Uprising in providing a space for the Christchurch climbing community to come together, train, boulder and socialise exceeded all expectations, and provided a springboard for a modern bouldering wall revolution in New Zealand.
